A Message from the Mayor

Serving as the Custer City Mayor has been humbling and challenging. Custer is a very active and growing community while current times create many challenges for our community. I intend to continue facing challenges head on and help move this community forward.

The Custer City Council is made up of six voting members. As Mayor, I work with these individuals daily to strive for progress in our community. The Council is continuously faced with many decisions such as community needs, infrastructure improvements and upgrades, and development and planning.

The city has recently been faced with staffing challenges like many others within our community. The Public Works and City Hall employees have all stepped up to help in our transition time. The Council and myself appreciate the continued dedication of our staff.

Staffing structure changes have been made including some job duty changes. The city has moved to a City Administrator/Finance Officer position. The City Planner will be handling items such as plats, variances, and conditional use permits. The Building Technician in conjunction with the contracted Building Official will be handling the building permits and inspections. The Public Works Supervisor will continue to oversee the Public Works Department.

I look forward to continual progress in 2023, such as master planning for the Community Center Property and additional phases of Harbach Park. In addition, the city plans to continue with technology improvements such as more utilization of the Code Red notification system, council room sound system improvements, and online utility billing system.

In addition to the technology improvements, the city is currently working to update the Custer City website. I foresee the website being the hub of information from city hall.

I intend to continue with a monthly update coming from my office or council members. The Councilmembers, City Staff, and I are always willing to listen and help; and are continuously striving to improve our growing community.

Sincerely,
Mayor Bob Brown
