"Disc golf is one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in the world, with more than three new courses being built every day. That makes Pageant Hill's ranking this year all the more impressive," said UDisc Co-founders Matt Krueger and Josh Lichti. "It takes time, care, and community to create award-winning disc golf experiences that leave players coming back for more, and this ranking is a testament to that hard work."
Big Rock Park is approximately 73 acres, including Pagent Hills, of undeveloped land which was part of the original township that was purchased and donated to the city for the purpose of parks and recreation.
Pagent Hill is approximately 15 acres. Pagent Hill has been the location of the Gold Discovery Days Pagent for 78 years. In the 1920s a covered shelter was built on Pagent Hill for the pagent by a Civic Organization and has since been redone.
Years ago Native Americans would camp on Pagent Hill during the local celebration. Besides being a great spot for sledding in the winter, Pagent Hill is also the location of the Custer Volunteer Fire Department 4th of July Fireworks.
Another feature of Big Rock Park is the Custer sign, which lights up in the evenings. The Custer sign was put up in 1945 by Custer Women's Civic Club. During Christmas time one might also notice the star that lights up at night.
Big Rock Park is the home of the Custer Skywalk, an in-town nature trail. It will begin at the south end of Sixth Street and extend to the north border of Big Rock Park.

Closed-toed shoes and long pants are recommended. Spotters handy on #7 and # 11.
At the east end of the ridge with Hollywood style CUSTER sign above the town.
From 385 in Custer; Hwy 89 and 16A east to a right at light on S. 8th St.
Turn left at end on Canal St., then right through the gate into Big Rock Park (aka Pageant Hill).
Turn right up the hill to parking area and 1st tee.
